“Bunker Down!” is a survival game for 3-4 players set in a fantasy world where towns of peasants must survive against the Dark Army’s attacks, where even the smallest mistake can lead to ruin. As the Dark Army grows and resources dwindle, players will have to make tough decisions on whether to be collaborative or competitive to ensure their own survival.
Each of the games 10 rounds represents a day with the players sole objective being to survive 10 nights of raids. Players draft resource cards from a central deck of 160 cards which can may run out early forcing players to survive on reserves. As a result, players must manage their resources between building up their defenses represented by the Army units and Fortifications they have built or sustaining their towns morale represented by the town’s Hunger and Upkeep meters. Each town will have to do whatever is necessary with regards to their neighbours... spend gold to hire couriers to lend aid while being ever-prepared to use that same gold to hire bandits when you need to backstab and steal! But players must never believe that they are safe as each night brings random events drawn from the central event deck which will end each round by triggering potentially game-altering miracles.... or catastrophes.
