This booklet is the first in a series, entitled Armies and Battles, accompanying MAGNA ACIES! "battle size" rules for 3D wargames for the Ancient age (without the rules, therefore, this booklet serves you little purpose).
We decided to start from the Punic Wars and the Macedonian Wars because these were probably, from a tactical point of view, the most interesting conflicts of Antiquity, which marked (together with Alexander's campaigns) new reference models for Military Art.
During these conflicts, the Romans had to abandon the primitive concept of the simple "attack on the center" to worry about the wings as well, while the phalanx ceased to be the most successful formation of Antiquity: fundamental themes, as you can well understand, decisive for 15 subsequent centuries and even beyond.
This booklet consists essentially of three elements:
three "Quickstart Scenarios" (with attached game tables),
fifteen "Army Lists" (always with attached game tables) and
six "Battle Maps"
