ElvenTrolls is a trick-taking card game with the stunning illustrations of the Swedish artist John Bauer.
"When you talk about trolls, they are standing outside your door listening." - Swedish proverb.
ELVENTROLLS is a trick-taking card game played in pairs, featuring the stunning illustrations of Swedish artist John Bauer.
The forests of Sweden are restless, as the number of troll attacks has been increasing each night. Due to food shortages caused by the growing elven population, the trolls are being forced out of the forests in search of food, disturbing the peace of nearby villages.
In ELVENTROLLS, players take on the role of Druids hired by the local villagers. Together with their partner, they must restore the natural balance between the Elves and Trolls by guiding them into the great "Silent Forest." There, players will lead the creatures through winding forest paths to their "Clearings," where magical Rune battles will take place. If the Trolls win, they will devour their elven rivals. The Elves, on the other hand, will try to distract the Trolls until dawn, when they turn to stone.
ELVENTROLLS is a trick-taking card game played in pairs (one pair will play with the troll deck and the other with the elf deck). Each player has a Druid card with a unique ability that, when active, becomes the trump Rune for the round. The player with the highest-numbered card wins the trick, leading the elves and trolls to their "Forest Glade." The player with the lowest number chooses any of the played cards and sends it to any player's "Forest Glade."
Then, it's checked whether any player has 3 or more cards with the same Runes in their "Forest Glade." If they do, those cards are defeated, forming 2 face-down piles (devoured elves and trolls turned to stone). After that, if the total value of trolls in a "Forest Glade" exceeds that of the elves, the elves are defeated and go to the player's devoured elves pile. If it's the opposite, the trolls are defeated and go to the pile of trolls turned to stone.
At the end of the 6th round, the pairs swap decks, and at the end of the 12th round, the pair that has the smallest difference between their piles of devoured elves and trolls turned to stone wins the game. Just be careful not to speak during the game, as any noise might attract them to the wrong "Forest Glade."
