Politrickers differs from the usual trick-taking game in that it's a mix of must-follow and must-not-follow. There are two political parties in the game. You must follow the suit of your own party, and must not follow that of the opposing party. You earn points for contributing to your party's victory without upsetting the political balance symbolized by the Libra.

Wield your limited political power skillfully to extend your influence, sometimes switching parties out of patriotic determination, sometimes declaring innovations that will turn the political world upside down. The path you walk is one of commitment and trust, or one of betrayal and intrigue. Either way, result says everything.
