An obscure board game take on Formula One released by small games publisher Actiongable during the late 70's. Gear Shift has a unique and in many ways quite realistic take on F1 racing, where the movements are generally dictated not by dice, but by on-track position.
So - unusually for a car-racing board game - this is very much a strategy game, with the element of chance coming in the form of hazard squares which require a roll from the 36-item hazard list on the inside of the box lid.
Only one track comes with the game - Brands Hatch - but the rule book claims that Actiongable were going to make further tracks available. One can only assume that disappointing sales scuppered those plans.
A hidden gem of the genre.
