Creatures of Rock is a exciting and easy-to-learn strategy card game for players of all ages and all levels of strategic skill.
Creatures of Rock is a fast-paced strategic card game where players try to form a 4-member band with the most Star Power whilst disrupting their opponent’s band. During the game you can collect or steal opponents’ equipment to earn bonus Star Power. Watch out for Wild Cards as these allow players to disrupt other bands carefully laid out plans. Make sure you play strategically, as the game can end at any moment once 3 stage call cards are played.
Object of the Game:
To win you must form a 4-member band with the most Star Power before the final “Stage Call” & the game ends.
Card Types:
Band Member Cards: There are 4 types of Band Members: Singer, Guitarist, Bassist, and Drummer, each with different base Star Power and Combo Bonus. There are Multi-Talent Band Members who can be 1 of 2 Band Member Types when they take to the stage.
Equipment Cards: Can give bonus Star Power at games end.
Wild Cards: Make the game a little crazy.
Stage Call Cards: Decide when the game ends.
Setup:
Shuffle the deck & deal 4 cards to each player. Keep your cards secret.
Place the remaining cards in a Pick-Up Pile face down.
The Player with the next birthday goes first.
How to Play:
At the start of your turn, you can do 1 of the following:
-Take the top card from the Pick-Up Pile to your hand
-Take 1 card from the top 2 cards on the Discard Pile to your hand
-Take 1 equipment card from another players “Stage Setup” to your hand
Next, you can place any Equipment Cards face down in front of you, this is your “Stage Setup”. Your Band Members will combine with the Equipment on your “Stage Setup” at the games end. Your “Stage Setup” can have a maximum of 5 pieces of Equipment. You can’t discard or take back to you hand any piece of equipment once it is on your stage.
At the end of your turn, you must only hold a total of 6 Cards. Discard cards into the Discard Pile until your hand only has 6 cards. “Stage Call” Cards cannot be discarded at this time. Discard cards face up.
It is now the next players turn.
Wild & “Stage Call” Cards can be played at any time during the game. When played Wild Cards go onto the Discard Pile. When played “Stage Call” cards go onto a separate pile.
Ending the Game:
A game ends when 3 Stage Call cards have been played, or at the end of the turn of the player who drew the last card from the Pick-Up Pile. Once the game ends no more Wild Cards can be played.
When the game ends, place any Equipment Cards from your hand onto your Stage Setup until it contains a maximum of 5 pieces of Equipment.
Each player selects 4 Band Members from their hand to take to their Stage. A Band Member does not need an Equipment Card to take to the stage.
Get the total Star Power of your band by adding the Star Power of each member (the number in the blue star).
Then add on any bonus from Equipment and/or Band Member combinations.
The Player with the band with the highest Star Power including any bonus power wins the game.
