Hoist Signals Aloft! is a system for adding unpredictability and limited communication to naval wargames set during the age of sail.
Hoist Signals Aloft! is not a set of stand-alone rules, but rather a communication sub-system to be added to your favorite set of naval rules.
Although designed for Fire As She Bears!, it can be used for any multi-player age of sail rule system.
Most table top battles allow the gamer instantaneous and unlimited communication with his fellow players.
Hoist Signals Aloft! helps place players in the admiral's historic role: attempting to deal with a fluid battle using a fixed and limited signals book.
Using Hoist Signals Aloft! returns the "fog of war" to our tabletop battlefields.
Find out, as 18th and 19th century admirals knew, that there are never enough flags to convey your orders to the fleet. And, that at the critical moment, some captain will misinterpret one of your commands that seemed so clear when the signals officer ran up the flags.
