CoGNaC is a unique deck of cards with which a variety of games can be played. Each card has three aspects to it: color, gem, and number (whereas standard playing cards have two: suit and rank). The primary game uses these three aspects to take tricks. The name and unusual capitalization of CoGNaC reminds you of the rule to determine the winner of the trick: Color over Gem, gem over Number, number above Color.

The included rules will teach you how to play a beginner trick-taking game and how to add complexity with a dummy and two types of bidding (sharing similarities with the card game Bridge). Also included are suggestions for how to use this deck with 6 traditional card games: Spades, Hearts, Rummy, Gin Rummy, Crazy Eights, and President. (you must already know how to play these games with a standard deck of cards before applying these adaptations.)
