The Romulan Ship Recognition Manual expands on the ships types seen in the base game Star Trek: Starship Tactical Combat Simulator, adding new variants for almost every Romulan ship in that product, as well as adding a number of new craft.

As with the base Star Trek: Starship Tactical Combat Simulator itself, this is ostensibly an "expansion" for the Role Playing game, in that it provides more data than just the combat element requires. 3-dimension views are provided for all craft, along with extensive historical notes and background.

The book was released with two covers, each with the same internal info. In both cases, the cover of this 48-page product features a cutaway of the Romulan 'Whitewind' cruiser. However, the first release version has only the words "ROMULAN SHIP RECOGNITION MANUAL" in red block letters on the cover, while the second version has the "framed" design shared with the 2nd Edition Federation & Klingon SRMs.

Indicating the clear tie to the wargame, the last page presents a sheet of counters that you can photocopy and mount on cardboard for use with the tactical game.
